Explaining why he has not written sooner, saying how much he liked Taorima, where he saw two Weimar painters, Böhm and Arp, as well as Max Colbek from Cairo, describing events in Catania, Syracuse, Castrogiovanni, and other places, comparing his impressions of Egypt and Sicily, adding that he will finish Act II [of Guntram] soon, sending greetings to the baroness and the children, mentioning [Auber's] Fra Diavolo and Die Stumme von Portici, etc.
